THE BLANDS

 September 2105 - Zachary's dedication

Hello!  My name is Tina and I am the face behind this not-so-BLAND-life! I started this blog as a resolution type thing 4 years ago as a reading challenge.  I was planning on reading and talking about one of my passions - BOOKS!  From there it sort of took on a life of it's own...yes I still want to talk about books that I read but since I've become a blogger I've been so inspired to write about LIFE in general.  So now you will find that my blog is a little about everything!  Home decor, cooking, DIY, organization, crafting, cleaning, travel, obsessing over Pinterest and so much more...

NYC Christmas 2013

NYC Christmas 2013

Last year, I added a page about our journey through pregnancy loss.  We lost our twins, one (Lily) at 8 weeks and the other (Jackson) stillborn at 21 weeks, and it's been a challenging time in our lives.  Writing about it has been so therapeutic for me and a wonderful way to share them with the world, since I am unable to do that any other way.

Jackson at 16 weeks

You can find all my posts about stillbirth and loss here.

This year, the blog took another turn into the pregnancy and parenting after loss realm.  We welcomed our happy, healthy RAINBOW baby, Zachary, into this world on May 29th, 2015.  He has been an absolute blessing to us!

Ok, so about me!  I am 35 and live in Maryland.  I am a school counselor by day and a cook/DIYer/blogger/Disney lover/traveler/writer by night.  My husband, Dave, has an 16-year-old daughter named Ashley, so that makes me a step mom of a teenager.  You may find me writing a lot about that too, I'm sure there will be stories.  We have a crazy kitty named Frodo, whom we are all fairly wild about.  We attend Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, MD and love it there!

We are Disney fanatics!

Look at that sweet kitty!

I stumble my way through life and love figuring it all out as I go, and it's such an incredible journey. I try to live life to the fullest, knowing now that none of us are immune to reality!  I hope that as you read this blog you are entertained from my day-to-day crazy but not too insane existence.   I love comments so leave some love!  Sometimes I'm a little crazy or silly, and sometimes I dig way too deep and get serious, but whatever is written on here, it comes from my heart and my desire to be a better person and an active, happy and optimistic player in my life, my family, my community and my world!
